We needed this for a spot on our outdoor stair way that we could flip it up out of the way when needed. It worked perfect! It is sturdy, installed easily, supports extra weight, and feels completely stable. It easily flips up out of the way when it's not needed to support my efforts to get up the stairs. We felt like it is a good value.

Have this mounted near an outside door to assist if needed. It flips up to be out of the way, and down when you need it. I don't have any problem relying on it for my safety if I have an occasional balance issue. I highly recommend. Too bad it came too late to help my husband. We didn't know things like this existed when he needed them!

As my husband and I have grown older, we have found maneuvering up the very top step of our basement stairway has become harder and harder and we had to hang on to the doorway to make the final step up. This grip bar is the solution to our problem. Using the grip bar to hold on to as we lift our leg/foot for the final step up gives us much more balance control; thus, it has greatly increased our in home safety. We especially like the feature that it can be flipped up so it is out of the way when we are going down the stairs. The bar, itself, seems to be of very good quality and design and it was easy for my “handyman” husband to install. For us this grip bar is worth every penny of its $19.99 cost, at the time I ordered it, and I highly recommend it.

Isamant Flip Up Grab Bars for Stairs & Doorway ReviewI ordered this for an installation other than intended by the manufacturer. It did not install as I had hoped it would and therefore I could not use it. My bad.Otherwise, It looks well built and plenty sturdy. However, upon arrival, it is somewhat smaller than the photo displays (see grandpa photo—no way is it that long). But then again, I have big hands.I agree with other reviewers that this handle device should be anchored to solid wood, metal or concrete, not drywall!4 stars only because of the slightly mis-leading photo.

It has a great black grip, measures around six inches, and gets out of the way; the folding mechanism is easy to use and it stays in place. The hardware includes screws and anchors, but I recommend using beefier options or installing it into a stud.
