The high-quality rafter hook does fit well on a Hitachi NR83AS2(S1) nail gun after two simple alterations. This model Hitachi variant of the NR83A has only one obvious mounting hole for the rafter hook an unthreaded hole thru the body but is blocked off by the nail magazine’s mounting plate. Drill a hole it. Then remove the main Hitachi bolt and attach the rafter hook. Then you will understand how you will be enlarging the hole of the rafter hook so the big Hitachi bolt will pass thru it. Use the mounting gasket supplied with the rafter hook. The black metal on the Hitachi is super strong. Use a corded drill and oil to cool and lubricate the drill bit. Start with a rather small drill bit. (To be sure you drill centered thru the hole on the Hitachi it would be smart to use a center punch to create a divot to obtain true center for the drill bit to go into.) Use progressively larger drill bits until done. Once penetrate thru, you can drill from one side then the other. Then remove the big main bolt part of the gun and install the rafter hook by one bolt and you will see where the center of the enlarged hole you drill needs to be.

My battery framing nailer’s ridiculously large rafter hook fell apart recently, so I bought this as a replacement. It fits fine. I like the smaller size, but it’s a little stiff compared to the original.

This hook has no lock position at 90 degrees. Are you kidding me?It's a good hook. You can cut your own notch to get it to lock in at 90 degrees but why should you have to?!Even the photo they used shows the pin won't rest in the notch...lol
