Alpine speakers have always been good quality. I bought these to replace original equipment Sont speakers on my 2005 Cobalt 246. These speakers work great and I am very happy with the results and sound quality.

As another person mentioned, these speakers have the exact same footprint as the older Pioneer CM1602 speakers, which had disintegrated on my 2005 power boat. So it was a no-brainer for me to purchase these based on that alone. Fortunately, these are pretty decent speakers too, I have no complaints about the sound. They are true 2-way speakers with a built in crossover for the woofer and separate tweeter. I even was able to re-use the original Pioneer grills, which fit perfectly, only needing a couple of dots of contact cement to hold them in place.I like Alpine products, hopefully these will last for a while.

Doral original rear speakers were the Clarions CM1602s; the cutout hole I had was 5" exactly. These were discontinued and replaced by CM1622 and others. Specifications stated those new models required a 5.25 cutout which I could have done with some time, study, effort and money spent. After time on-line searching for speakers with 5" cutout, I found these Alpine Marine speakers SPS-M601W. The 4 screw holes matched exactly with the old Clarions and the 5" hole I had, was all I needed. Installation was a breeze since everything matched perfectly.NOTE: When looking at the box and specifications, it says that a 5.1" cutout hole is required. I am here to tell you that 5" was all that was required. Very happy with the purchase, the sound, and the fit.

After one summer, 3 of my 4 stock speakers blew. Naturally I wanted to upgrade to something better than Kicker/Jensen/etc.I chose these because their RMS handling was very similar to my new head unit (Aquatic AV GP1 Gauge Size Waterproof Marine Stereo). This is a great unit an a nice upgrade from the stock Jensen.These speakers have great bass and are more than enough for not having an amp, etc. I'll update and lower stars if they don't last two summers.

I tried a few different brands (Including Pioneer) before I bought these and I'm very pleased with these ones. You can tell the difference in quality as soon as you take them out of the box. And they are the best sounding speakers I've ever had in my boat. I had to drill a couple new mounting holes in my Helm to mount them as the holes from my old speakers didn't line up, but it wasn't hard.

I have to admit. I purchased these back in Nov 2018 for my boat, it's almost 2 years. I researched the dimensions, power handling, everything. I am an Alpine fan but was kinda turned off my the cloth impregnated surround. I like the rubber that lasts. But here I am, almost 2 years later and they sound great as day 1 and thumping! Now my system, I have a Fusion MS-RA70 head, can't say enough how great it is! It's powering the inside speakers well in a 30 ft Baja MY290. Tied to a Clarion 4 channel amp for the outside sub and 2 Alpines. Now the 2 alpine speakers and sub are running thru an older amp. Old school power! The Alpines are subjected to all the elements and my usual wash. They STILL sound great!I'm a firm believer in Alpine and whatever they shot into the cloth woofer surrounds!If you want a great sounding speaker that will last a few seasons and not break the bank, this is it. Now mind you I did not thump the with 2 2000 watt amps! An old school clarion 4 channel 50 watt per each channel true amp!If you just want to upgrade your new boats speakers, or up it a bit, these are it!!! 2 years later, no crackeling and I love them.!
