This shoulder pad, I purchased two, worked okay until the tiny screws holding the legs to the body came loose. The screws do not remain tight anymore due to the soft metal. However, when the screws were fixed in place with super glue, the shoulder pad worked well. The benefit to this design is the fact that the shoulder pad remains on the instrument and does not constantly fall off like many shoulder pads do.

This is made in china. It stinks when you take it out of the packaging. It does not grab the violin well. You risk scratching the violin. It is also very uncomfortable though that depends on your anatomy.

This is an interesting item. It is a gold plated, wire frame shoulder rest with a small not even velveteen pad. Its almost like the cloth rosin comes in sometimes. Its much smaller than you would imagine, it barely reaches from one side of a 4/4 violin to the other, you have to maneuver it a bit til you find the right angle to slip it on but once on, it is moderately comfortable and balances well. Its good for a beginner though I would suggest not wearing a tank top or using it if you have sensitive skin, it can be a touch rough. I would run another cloth over it to soften it up a little before practicing with, simply for comfort's sake. No one wants to stop practicing after five minutes because their shoulder is itchy or is having discomfort in any way. Its a good buy if you want something small and portable that wont shift while you play, its good for a beginner since it holds form well and it looks very professional.
