I had an issue with the water freezing but didn't want it to get too hot. This allowed me to set a temperature and let it regulate. The only issue I have is the power cord is too short so I need an extention cord, but that's because my use is not for a fish tank

Very good purchase. Accurate with temperature, built-in thermostat console is very useful. I dont have to place the thermometer to see the temperature.

Bought this unit knowing we would be undergoing a tank change to rehome our red-eared slider and I didn't want to worry about the heater when the level went low. I had this on a timer and forgot to unplug for the day we made the change while we waited for everything to settle between tanks. Came down the following day to a ton of smoke and a severely melted outer casing. I thought this is supposed to stop running when dry...so much for that. Just glad it didn't end up far worse. Disappointed as I spent more on this than other units that were available, specifically for that feature.
