So far I like it a lot. Everything works as it is expected. The base could be more firm and steady, but for its price it looks reasonable OK in quality. I would recommend this product for anyone who practice Target Shooting.

I go to a 200 yards maximum range and I use a 223 rifle so when i look at the target i see where the bullets hit so for me it's perfect

The optics of this scope is from regular to bad. It's useless at the higher magnifications (color, image distortions). It is worth to spend more money to get something better.

I saw this product at a flea market and was impressed enough I wanted to get a new, clean version. Here's what I liked about it:* It is incredibly lightweight. I'm assuming the lenses are plastic, but the image quality is still very good. And by being so lightweight, you can hand-hold it.* Further, the straight-on angle of the eyepiece is such that you can hold it right up to your eye -- it is not angled in a way that requires a tripod.* You can't beat a 60X zoom. Yikes!* The optics are pretty impressive. I was reading license plates of cars across a large mall parking lot.* It's a spotting scope, meaning that as you look through it, everything is upside up as it should be.* It comes very professionally packaged -- a nice inner pouch, and a very elegant outer case.I ended up returning mine for just one reason: I'm a professional photographer and I found the optics were just not quite up to snuff compared to my much more expensive Kowa telescope. The optics on the Barska were good enough that I only noticed it when I compared the two telescopes side-by-side. But since I already owned the Kowa outright, I decided to just stay with that, even though I can only use the Kowa with a tripod. If you're pretty good with your hands, you can hand-hold this Barska with no problem, particularly at 20X.This is a nice looking item with very good image quality in a snappy and comprehensive package. I highly recommend this for the amateur or enthusiast.

The first unit I received on 6/10/15 was great... initially. The optics were clear, and the quality "appeared" to be solid! It exceeded my expectation. Then, I screwed the lens cap back onto the base of the eyepiece, and when I tried to unscrew it back off so my son and daughter could take a look through the scope, I realized that the threaded metal piece inside the lens cap that screws onto the base of the eyepiece got stuck and completely came out of the lens cap (this happened within 10 minutes of it being delivered to my front door!!!). Long story short, when I tried to unscrew the stuck threaded metal piece that belonged on the lens cap after screwing the lens cap back onto it, the entire eyepiece unscrewed from the scope housing and came off! Now, the eyepiece was stuck in the lens cap and had become separated from the scope housing! Whatever they used to "glue" the pieces together had not been sufficient to hold against minor to moderate torque.Although this first experience put a sour taste in my mouth, I figured I'd give the Barska Blackhawk another shot. Amazon, being amazing as always, accepted an exchange and delivered a replacement to me the very next day (6/11/15). I was cautiously optimistic as I tested out the replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement unit had problems of its own. There was some sort of flare and hazing (fog?) on the bottom left area as I looked through the scope (even with the sunshade extended out and looking in all different directions). Also, there was a circular reflection of some sort directly in the middle as I looked through the scope. I hadn't had these issues with the first unit I had received as far as the optics were concerned.I really wanted to like this scope. If the first unit had not come apart, I would probably be writing a 5-star review. I was seriously impressed up until it literally came apart. Instead, it gets 2 stars. The potential is definitely there, but the quality is just horrible! I hope others are able to have better luck and get one like the first unit I received, except it not fall apart on them. If that happens, you've got yourself a winner. For me, it just wasn't meant to be.I'll be returning the second unit due to the annoying optical imperfections, and I'll be purchasing another brand for my spotting scope needs.

I purchased this spotting scope back in 2008 and have had a good amount of time behind the lens. I purchased this spotting scope based on my budget at the time and the reviews that I read on Amazon.com. After two years of use, I can finally add some constructive feedback about this product.Pros:Comes with a nice carrying caseIncluded tripod is a very handy accessoryBuild quality is very nice at this price pointClarity of the glass is decent at 100 yardsLarge magnification with a very nice fine tune control knobCons:There is no height adjustment to the tripod - but that isn't to be expected at this price pointFront lens cap does not stay on and falls off easily during transportEye-relief - this is my biggest problem with the spotting scope. You REALLY have to get in very close to get a good image. This issue is greatly enhanced when you're using the higher magifications. Additionally, I would not recommend going with the highest setting of the magnification - your going to have issues with straining your eyes.Overall, would I purchase this item again based on my experience and my needs/situation? I would have to say no and here is why. I originally purhcased this item because I was on a limited budget, I didn't think that I needed something beyond 100 yards, and I didn't know too much about spotting scopes and the differences compared to higher-end ones. Knowing what I know now and using higher quality spotting scopes, I should have just bit the bullet and went with a better spotting scope. That being said, if you're not able to put down the coin for a better quality spotting scope, than this one should serve its purpose - esp at this price point. I think it just comes down to your needs and budget.

Usually Barska makes some nice scopes, especially for the price. This thing was a piece of crap. Clarity was sub par and the eye relief was TERRIBLE. Incredibly hard to line your eye up so you could see through it properly and even more difficult to steady yourself so you could continue to look through it. I work in sporting goods shop and have used hundreds of scopes over the years, mounted them, ect. This was one of the worse, it reminded me of the cheap scopes you get on BB guns. Spend a little extra money and get something else. Lastly, the light loss at full power was impressive. In a Highly lit retail store, it looked like someone turned off half the lights. not very good.
