I am divorcing my beloved Fein Tool, and I am running away with my new Bosch 18V Oscillating tool.I am a tradesmen, and the more I use the Bosch 18V Oscillating tool, the more my confidence in a battery tool replacing a corded tool grows. The Bosch tool-less blade holder blowwwws the Fein's away in easy of use, and no more release leaver slamming your fingers, and no more HOT plug landing in your hand. As with any continues running battery tool, the batteries don't last as long as a cordless driver, and one has to plan to have full size batteries on hand. I have two 3amp batteries, and I am finding that I have no down time waiting for batteries to charge. On a continues run, the charging battery is good to go, before the one in the tool is spent. But I would recommend the new 4amp batteries if your budget would allow, they are just that much better.PLEASE NOTE: Battery performance is based off the old 3amp batteries, and the older 30min charger BC630. Most new 18v Bosch tools now come with a 1 hour charger.Regarding performance. This unit performs just as good as my old corded Fine Tool. There is no lose in Horse Power what so ever going to 18V. The new brushless motor runs cool and the chip-set maintains your chosen speed, even under extreme load. The speed dial goes from a nice slow speed for genital work, to full extreme. There is no feeling that it's sitting the edge of it's power out put, lots of power in reserve.I didn't think much of the L-Boxx at first, but I'm starting to like it. Lots of room, and I like the extra handle on top. It's too bad their so pricey on their own. I might consider getting some more.In closing, I no longer see any reason outside of budget to get a corded multi tool. If your on the fence worrying that they might not do the job. Let me tell you, they can, to the level of impressive.

I was extremely hesitant before buying this Bosh MXH180BL tool, as I was very tempted by the Dewalt cordless equivalent. At the time of the purchase, the Dewalt didn't really have their blades available in different stores in Canada, not even on Amazon. So I went ahead and bought the Bosch. The unit works well and has lots of power, but so far it really drains the battery quickly (good thing I have multiple batteries). The grip is also not ideal for some precision work - which is why I needed an oscillating tool. Overall, this Bosch tool delivers, but the battery life and the grip make me thinking if the Dewalt wouldn't have been a better tool.I will update the review if my perception change as I use this oscillating tool more and more

Where do I start. I've been a Bosch user for 10 years. I've owned pretty much every single brand of power tools that's out their. Once I went with Bosch. I've never looked back. Bosch is a great brand. I started out with their 12v line and grew into their 18v line. I've had their 12v multi tool since it first came out. When this baby came out I couldn't wait to get it. I've had this for awhile now and recently got my second set. I also own the fein corded and cordless model. Bosch in my opinion is the best one out there. The power is identical or even surpasses the corded version. Specially when I use the new 6.0 ah 18v battery pack. The soft start and quick blade change is just amazing in a tool that is well engineered. Don't just take my word for it. Try out the other brands before you make a decision. But I will warn you. Once you go Bosch. You'll never go back.lol Goodluck!!!

Fantastic cutter. One single negative on the design.:This thing eats batteries. Make sure you've got your charger handy.Adjustable speed is great. angle changing arm is great. Slow start-up feature is great. One possible safety problem:If you are cutting, and the battery runs out, the saw stops. Your first inclination is to pull the dead battery off, grab a new battery, and click it into the saw. If you did NOT turn the red locking 'go' switch off after the battery died, you click on the new battery, and the saw pauses for it's slow start-up feature, then starts cutting at full speed. I had this on my leg, snapping the new battery in and felt it start to vibrate. If I was not paying attention, this could have been a really bad scene.Eats batteries. Make sure you switch it OFF after the battery dies and before you put in a freshly charged battery. The box is a weird fit unless the cutter has a battery installed in it when it goes in the case, but gets 4 stars because it comes with a nice little blade box.

I have this new brushless Bosch model, and the Makita LXMT 18V multi tool. It is interesting to run both of them side-by-side to see what the differences are. The Bosch is noisier with a higher pitch at the highest setting 6, but if I dial it down to level 5, the sound frequency lowers to an identical match of the Makita sound. Since the sound frequency is a pretty good indicator of the oscillations per second, it appears that the Bosch oscillates faster than Makita at level 6, and at the same rate at level 5. The Bosch brushless tool is supposed to last longer, and pack more power with each battery charge since the brushless motor is more efficient. If I look at the blurred side-by-side motion of each tool cutting bit, it appears that the Makita has a tiny bit more sweep motion, around 1mm or so. The one feature I miss in the Bosch is that the Makita has a nice LED light that shines on the object it is cutting. The Bosch feels larger to hold, the Makita is slightly more compact and a bit more comfortable to hold. The Bosch brushless wins on speed, power, and efficiency, while the Makita is nice with its form factor and light.

Worked great for a year. After that it shakes it's own battery loose enough to shut off. Great tool when it's working.

I bought a Craftsman oscillating tool. I tried cutting a tiny piece of wood. A few minutes later, I gave up. It was taking too long to be useful. I rarely return things, but that tool went back to Sears. I bought this. This doesn't cut just a little bit better -- the difference is like night and day. It is many, many times faster. It's also more accurate. The only possible downside is size and weight. It's not a small tool, and the box it comes in is huge.Price also adds up quickly, when you factor in battery and blades. But totally worth it.
