I really like these disks! They are very good to remove paint, and surface rust to prep a metal surface before a new coat of paint, or a welding repair to do, you can use them to bring the surface to bare metal in no time! The big advantage of these is, they are agressive enough to remove surface rust, and all kind of coatings (mill scale, paint, powder coat black oxyde etc.), but are not agressive enough to remove metal.I've used them to clean steel before making a modification to my trailer tailgate. I could easily remove the paint without making a mess like sandblast or paint removed would have done! I'm pretty pleased with the performance of these discs!

I've tested these wheels on rusty steel, epoxy covered plywood, painted steel and granite. Very impressed at how quickly it cleans it up with minimal pressure, and minimal wear on the wheel.On steel it strips but doesn't wear down the metal itself, as you can still see all the pitting on the dustpan, it's cleaned out, but not worn down. I'm sure softer metals would erode with high pressure grinding.On wood, it will definitely abrade more than the coating.Polishes granite reasonably well.They are quite thick, so they will go along ways.These will be great for countless applications, but the necessary pressure will be dependent upon the situation/substrate.At time of review they were 6 bucks per wheel (5 for 30). While not cheap, they are worth the cost, in part due to their longevity.
