I purchased 2 pairs of these pants (one in khaki and one in dark grey) before a safari trip. My son is 4 years old and wears 5T pants. We purchased a size xxs and they fit him great! They were a little long for him, but we just rolled them up. They fit very well around his waist. Our safari trip was in the plains of Colombia and the average temperature there was mid 70s in the AM and up to 90 in the afternoons. We were out in the jeep for most of the day and walking through tall grasses/forests. These pants were fantastic. They breathed well, dried quickly, and kept him from overheating. Our son loved how he could zip off the leg parts in the afternoons and calls them his 'transformer' pants. They were very dirty by the time we went home and had multiple food stains/dirt stains. Threw them the wash and came out looking brand new! GREAT travel pants for kids.

Used these for a hike through rain in Costa Rica. The pants dried quickly and the zippers are built strong. Waist is comfortable and sizing fit well for my son.

My son normally wears slim pants, and the waist on these pants was way too tight for him.
