I purchased and then returned - the product shipped by blessed98 was not the Blues Harp model, but rather the Bluesband model - a much inferior, beginners model also made by Hohner (about 15% of the cost). The price listed is good for a set of Blues Harp harmonicas, but that's NOT what was shipped.

A while back I had a cheap harmonica that didn't play too good, it was more of a novelty than a serious instrument (Hohner Blues Band). Once I got a feel with that harp I wanted to see if I could become as good other people could play. It was then that I realized that I needed better quality harmonicas I found these Blues Harps! These would be my first set of high quality harmonicas! After having these for around a good 3-4 months I can solidly stand by these harmonicas. They play nicely and bend with ease (a bit easier than a suzuki bluesmaster). I learned many techniques on these harmonicas and I am really attached to this line. You can also order replacement parts on the website if you need to replace any parts (I haven't found the need to replace any parts yet). The one thing that I could gripe about would be the case. It is not the same as the picture. Mine is a simplistic black nylon case shaped in a rectangular cube with rounded edges. Even though it is different it's still a decent case. The top foam part will fall off easily so be sure to check and glue it back in place if you need to!The other thing would be the lessons given with this set of harmonicas. You get a 30 day free trial with David Barrett's site. His teaching doesn't really suit my style of learning (I like to learn by ear all over the place [his teaching is more reading tabs, videos, systematic progression, and practices]), Even though his site isn't my style I gave it a chance and found it worthwhile! There are many resources that I have found to be very useful in the site such as some technique practices and interviews to inspire you. This site has taught me the basics like bending and tongue blocking. His website is an invaluable source of information for a beginner.Once I got a pretty good grasp of things I branched off and watched videos on youtube with Adam Gussow and also listening to music and learning by ear.Even though I am a far cry from anywhere near good yet I think that this set would be perfect to anyone wanting to start out with more serious harping. This set will be a good foundation and the free 30 day access to David Barrett's site is excellent. I think I got this set for around $160. That would be 5 $40 dollar harps, a decent case, and free 30 day access to David Barrett's site. I think set is well worth the price! I would recommend this set to anyone!

I've had the same 2 old blues harps for about 30 years and you can probably imagine their sad condition. They were adequate for playing on long drives while steering with my knees but when I was encouraged by fellow bands men to try and add some color to our blues group, I purchased a Lee Oscar in the key of F. It was fine as long as the band played in C, but it wasn't often enough and I didn't get a lot of opportunity to practise. So, I ordered this set and now have plenty of chances to inspire myself in 5 keys. I'm not a fanatic about harp tweeking/modification. I'm just a beginner, and these harps are great. The case is superb. I'm able to force my Lee Oscar into it and I've added a Hohner Eb so it's now full. Maybe someday I'll want something different (doubtful) but the price, selection and case made this an effortless way to get started. I'm extremely happy with my purchase!

Bought as a gift for my dad for his birthday and he loved them. They look and sound great. High quality, great price.

These are nice, and a good price. However the good blues scales of previous versions aren’t what these have. These have very stale scales and detract from being able to play certain melodies that I can play on older versions. Also, the older versions I have are made with real wood, and these are a plastic fake wood. I’ll get used to them over time so not a total loss, but a bit disappointed. These are not worth the price and are cheap imitation of the real deal.
