I ordered these to place outside on my balcony for the warmer months. The buckets/candles are a nice size and will provide a good amount of burn time. Coming with three, you can set the three up across a wider space for more coverage, or if using for a small space like a balcony, one will suffice and you have two left to keep on hand.The smell is strong - I wouldn't say overpoweringly strong but you'll definitely smell these when they're lit. While I haven't noticed a night-and-day difference when these are lit compared to when they are not, I have seen gnats/flies in less numbers when I have this lit. I guess the real test will be when temperatures are 80+ but for now, the insect presence I had at current temperatures has been lower.Happy with these, both for aesthetic and for functionality. I recommend to anyone looking for pleasant-looking patio/deck candles that look nice.

The set is a nice size to use on a deck in multiple places. They buckets are sturdy enough too.

These are meant to be burned outdoors. There are a lot of reasons not to burn and breathe citronella indoors, so if you're concerned, Google it. There is obviously more ventilation outdoors, but if you do get a whiff of the scent, it's more pleasant with the added lemongrass and peppermint than just plain citronella. These work great outside on the tables around our pool to help ward off mosquitos. The reason I knocked a couple stars off was due to the packaging. The pails do not have lids and they are not wrapped in plastic. They come lined up in a row in a long narrow box with a piece of styrofoam holding the bottoms of the buckets in place. There is nothing around the tops of the buckets. The box is not marked with an "up" arrow and it's not obvious which is the top of bottom of the plain unlabled brown box, so it was packed upside down in a larger box with some other items I ordered. They sat outside on my porch in the sun after delivery, so beeswax melted all over inside the box since the buckets were upside down and had nothing over the tops to keep the wax and bits of foliage inside. Some of the wax was lost and I had a bit of a mess to clean up before they were usable. I think the tops of the buckets should come wrapped or have some sort of lid, or at least mark the box which way is up so if the wax does melt, it will stay in the buckets since they'd be upright.

Very strong smell which is good! They seem to work like any other candle does to help repel insects

I am definitely a fan of the Large Citronella Candles Outdoor 42oz Total,3 Pack Citronella Candles for Outside with Handles,Soy & Beeswax Blend with Lemongrass Peppermint,Up to 180 Hours Burn Time,Patio Garden Camping Essentials. Even though the bugs are super bad yet, these will come in handy this summer. Not only are they pleasant to look at but they smell amazing.
