Considering that the price of 360 hard drives is still higher per unit of memory than solid-state computer hard drives, it is not unreasonable to expect that the data transfer kit would be included with the unit- as it should have been. What I received was a Microsoft-manufactured hard drive in a generic box, with no transfer kit... I don't care what the box looks like, but what is the point of selling the hard drives without the transfer kit? Additionally, there are multiple reviews of this specific product which state that the transfer kit WAS included, which I find to be very misleading- either the reviews are bogus, or kit-included hard drives are being sold under the same heading as non-included units. The main product page does not provide that information, making the purchase a crapshoot- I would not have bought this product for the listed price if I'd known it would not include the cable. For that matter, there's no way of knowing for sure that the hard drive as delivered is even the new unit that I paid for- without a certificate or the original packaging, the retailer could be sticking refurbished or used units in these boxes for all anyone knows. The seller's good word is not enough assurance of the condition and authenticity of expensive electronics. This isn't a dollar store thumbdrive we're talking about here.Bottom line, either the main page needs to include at least a warning that the product may or may not include the transfer kit, or the listings need to be divided so that folks know what they're getting in the package.

I had been watching the 120 GB hard drive for awhile hoping that the price would go down and when it did, I jumped and bought one. We have an 'original' 20 GB XBOX 360 system and it was full. We were constantly erasing things to make space but didn't want to buy a new system for a bigger hard drive. When the 60 GB came out, we considered it but wanted the big one and got it. What's funny is that I heard on TV that nobody could ever fill a 120 GB hard drive and I don't believe that for a second. We still have a good chunk of space left but I believe that at some point it will be full or at least almost. This hard drive has made our playing so much easier to enjoy. I would reccommend it to anyone who is looking for more space even more than the 60 GB. If we would have bought the 60 GB, we would almost have it full and be in the same spot. I will agree that the price was stiff (at least when we bought it) but it is worth it. It gives you the space that you need and then some.

lets face it if you play xbox regularly and have live then you are going to run out of the 20 gigs sooner or later (more like 13 after formatting Christ sakes you lose 7 gigs to formatting!) and with the option to rip your games to the hard drive it's only going to get worstso if you want to upgrade and you want to transfer your files you need the cables and the transfer disc and you are only going to get them with the 120 gig not with the 60 gig. so it's this or nothingi know you are thinking that you can get the 60 gig and just re download your DLC from the marketplace and you are right. except that some items on your hard drive might not be available from the marketplace. and example is the rock band 1 disc if you paid to transfer the disc to your hard drive and got rid of it then you would have to pay again and get the disc and re rip it and there are other examples of DLC that is not available on the market place so if you have something like that then this is you only optionbut on the bright side you have alot of space and the arcade games and DLC are just getting better... also you can rip more of your games to the hard drive

I recently purchased this 120gb hard drive and im really happy with it. The tranfer cable and cd it came with made it one the easiest installations ive ever done. I had the 20gb hard drive which worked great and i thought i didnt need more space but then i heard about the new xbox dashboard thats coming in november 08 and i said i have to get a bigger hard drive. I have been reading alot of reviews and i see people writing "I dont need all that extra space" but i dont think people realize that after the new dashboard upgrade one of the new features is youll be able to download any of your 360 games into your hard drive so that your 360 will be quieter, protect your disk drive from scratching since no game will be spinning while youre playing and the 360 can be cooler cause its using less power since theres no game spinning in the system. With the 20gb hard drive you will probably be able to fit 2-3 games since its really only 12 gb your left with after installation not 20gb. The 120gb after installation is 107gb but its a huge difference. One game download will take up 4-5 gbs so if you have 12gb that will leave you with about 2 gb if you install 2 games. Thats not including if you want to download demos and music. So I definitely think its worth the money because youll be able to save your entire game library in it come november. Remember look up the new dashboard update info and then you will see that you will want to purchase this hard drive too.

This replacement drive was extremely easy to install/set up, and it frees up a virtually limitless amount of space to play with. While the 20GB drive was always a little on the puny side, the 120GB seems to be almost overkill. I highly recommend this larger drive for any Xbox Live users who* Download a lot of "permanent" content such as "Guitar Hero"/"Rock Band" tracks, Xbox Originals games (which are typically about 5 - 8 GB each), etc.* Rip lots of music on to their Xbox for customized game soundtracks.* Watch movies/videos on their Xbox, especially in HD format. This could become even more crucial if the reported partnership with Netflix to deliver downloaded content is ever announced.Copying the contents of your old drive is facilitated via a utilities disc and copy cable, both of which are included with this 120GB drive package. After following a few simple on-screen prompts, it counted down the 1 1/2 hours that it took to copy my almost-full 20GB drive. This step was very easy to complete and I had no trouble with any of my previous-purchased content, games, etc. running on the new drive. The only downside to the copy process is that it seemed to also "revive" a lot of the promotional and demo content that I'd long ago deleted from my old drive. I'm not sure if the copy process actually restored these files from the original drive or if it is designed to load them from its own source (maybe the utilities disc?), but it was a minor annoyance to have to go back and re-delete all of these unwanted files one by one. Many of the reviews of the Xbox 360 120GB hard drive touch on the cost. Yes, it's overpriced compared to standard hard disks, but it's also the only such peripheral available for the 360, so the griping is a moot point. Simply put, if you download a lot of Xbox Live content, then someday you'll need more space than the original 20GB drive allows. And there are ample opportunities to offset the cost on the secondary market such as selling your old drive (there's no way for the 360 to handle multiple drives at once anyway, so it's just a doorstop once you install the 120GB) and the copy cable.Again, if you want to experience the most out of your Xbox Live account, then just bite down on the inflated cost of this peripheral and then enjoy all of that spare room.
