Line one which is our main phone line will not work. Hangs up when you call in and will not roll over to the second line. I had bell come in thinking it was the lines. All lines working properly. Now I'm to later for a return. A waste of money.

I'd picked up one of these (the 25255 base with one 25055 cordless handset) a little over ten years ago, back when Telefield (a Chinese company nominally publicly traded in Hong Kong) was paying to license the RCA name. The brand later changed from "RCA" to "RCA by Telefield" and apparently they're paying to use Motorola's name now?The system is still in use here, but I'm finding it progressively more difficult to find the handsets to expand it as it becomes increasingly obsolete. A decade ago, it was possible to buy this in bricks-and-mortar stores like Staples/Business Depot. These days? It might still be possible to buy the base system by mail-order, but it's gone from the high street. The 25260 desk extension phone (which was the only redeeming feature of this system, as it had the flexibility to connect either as a cordless handset or to act as the base) seems to be the most difficult to find, an obstacle to expanding an existing system. (The system supports two lines on a base plus up to ten cordless handsets or extensions.)Overall, the system has worked reasonably; the cordless range and the sound quality are good. I have seen a few minor but annoying compatibility issues. When we first got the system in 2012, we still had old-fashioned Bell Canada landline; Bell would set one special bit in their call display message to indicate a call was "long distance" and Telefield would display the words LONG DISTANCE in all-caps instead of the caller's name. It also sometimes failed to detect that some other phone on the same line (but not part of this system) went off-hook, and the LCD backlight (which was blue in those days, not orange) would illuminate for no apparent reason on the base at random times, illuminating the backlight on every other extension. We did replace the 25255 base in 2020 (the newer version had "RCA by Telefield" as the branding that week, and an orange LCD back light) which has mostly worked out fairly well. There's still one very annoying compatibility issue; the ringers will not pass "distinctive ring" even if it's being sent by the upstream provider. Distinctive ring (branded as "Ident-a-call" by Bell and "ring master" or other proprietary names by others) allows two or three numbers to be assigned to the same line, with each given a different ring pattern. The first number might get one long *rriinngg* while the next gets two shorter *ring-ring* *ring-ring* and a third number on the same line gets some other pattern with three short rings. One can see the "line 1"/"line 2" buttons blink red in whatever pattern the provider is sending, but the audible ringer just turns all of these into one long ring in the same one constant pattern. It's supposed to be possible to set a different ring tone for "line 1" vs. "line 2" but the eight choices provided all seem to be the exact same ring tone, just shifted up or down in frequency. An annoyance if we have multiple numbers. If I had this to do again, and didn't already own a phone system, I'd likely go with some other make and model. The system seems to work, but the 25260 desk extensions to expand it are getting increasingly more difficult to find - the last one I got had was "used" or "refurbished" and had to be mail-ordered from the US. For what you pay for this, if you can still find the pieces, some other newer brand might have been able to provide four lines instead of two or provide additional features or flexibility. I'd expect the issues with the expansion options being hard to find later for this ten-year-old system are only going to get worse with time.

Setting up a phone should be simple, right? Three people in my household have tried to make this work, including a techie. Youtube videos, instruction manual, manufacturers website... Nothing fixed everything. These problems remain: sometimes rings, sometimes doesn't, sometimes only once. In a small apartment, and within manufacturers range, extensions had "out of range" error messages. This was not consistent. Sometimes they worked, which only fooled us into trusting them again, only to have the same problem. This is a two line phone, but sometimes Line 2 drops out. We have no idea if someone called until they complain later. Dreadful experience.

A good value for the money. I like the choice of ring tones and the large memory for answering data.

I really, really liked this phone. The "but" is that I have several other Motorola phones and it was not compatible, so very reluctantly, I sent it back. But if you are not trying to marry it to existing equipment, I think you will love it.

I bought the system with 2 additional handsets. Handsets would not charge (yes, the charge light was on) but after 48 hours, still only half charged. None of the handsets would register with the base unit. When registering, they all said registration cl=omplete, then bring handset closer, then went back to start of registration process. Motorola tech support said that they were all defective and return everything. Waste of time. Can't rate anything else because every unit failed.

I bought this phone as an extension to an ML25255. After connecting the two, this phone (ML25260) worked for about a day. The next day when I pick up the phone, there is no dial tone. Tried everything in the users manual and researched online, but to no avail. Also, I had to pay an extra $17.00 as Cash on delivery towards import duties - this was not mentioned at the time of purchase. And the icing on the cake - I have to pay to return this to the seller. Don't get this phone even if someone gives it to you for free.

This phone replaced a well-beloved office phone that after 25 years finally "gave up the ghost." The Motorola is as advertised. The extension after a while starts to echo and feedback if on speaker. And I have yet to be able to get OUT of speaker mode. The displays on both are small. Still, over all, it is a decent product with which I am satisfied.
