Hard to beat the Optima Batteries. When fully charged there is nothing to worry about when I go to the Lake for a day of fishing. They have never let me down. I actually had a pair of Optima 27's Batteries that lasted for 10 years in my old boat hard to beat that.

This does what it is supposed to do for me- trolling motor. I don't give it five stars because it is rather expensive. Though Amazon's price is better than some. This battery is spill/leak proof, which is the only reason I chose it over my local CarQuest marine battery.I bought it from Amazon because I was in need of something right away, and the fast shipping was the clincher. I've read reviews saying Amazon's warranty is lousy, but this is what the product page said when I purchased:Warranty, Parts: Optima warrants to the original purchaser that this battery is free of defects in material and workmanship for a 24 month replacement period when shipped and sold by Amazon.com. If a replacement is necessary due to a defect in materials and/or workmanship the battery will be replaced free of charge, within the free replacement period from date of original purchase. Please contact Amazon Customer Service with your warranty claim. For purchases from Amazon Merchant sellers please contact the seller directly for warranty support.

I purchased this group 27 and another group 34 Optima Blue Top after growing disenchantment with Interstate, AC/Delco Voyagers, and most other brands. The marketplace is just absolutely flooded with Chinese-made gel cell and AGM batteries now, and they are NOT priced all that much more competitively to those few remaining companies trying to build a product here in the USA. For me, it came down to Optima and the Enersys Trolling Thunder. Given the ease of making an exchange through Amazon, the three-year, non-pro rated warranty, the ability to get basic technical and dealer support by phone, in addition to a $100 price differential, it's pretty easy to see why I went with Optima. I have both batteries connected to a Minn Kota MK210C digital on-board charger, which with two independent banks, seems to keep them just where they need to be and ready to go when I am. Both threaded posts and standard clamp terminal posts on top are nice to have if a jump is ever needed or I had to use a backup charger...plenty of connection options.

My hobby is auto racing and I have had a Optima yellow top battery in my race car for over 8 years and it has performed flawlessly. When the battery o the backup sump pump in my house died I wanted the same reliability so I shopped Amazon for an Optima deep cycle. It may be overkill as cost is about twice a generic battery at a big box store but my basement is full of expensive car parts and documents that would be devastating to lose in a flood.
