The metal in the press was a little soft, but good enough to get several jobs done.

We found these kits to be well built, having a solid feel overall and their versatile assortment of accessories makes them ideal for all sorts of jobs. The ball joint press in particular had a solid feel, but key to longevity is to keep the forcing screw and mating threads clean and lubricated. We found that on tough jobs when the tool stalled and began to flex, a sharp hit with a hammer on blunt end of the hex drive would get it to pop and come out under power thereafter. I fear if the tool were otherwise continued to be forced when stalled out it may have a short life. This was more apparent in using the threaded screw of the wheel bearing tool, the screw and mating thread might not last over the long haul if not well taken care of: clean & lube and don't over-force it, otherwise, I fear the screw will fail. All of the adaptors were excellent and we were never caught between sizes where something didn't fit our application. These may not be the most top of the line tools of this sort on the market, but a little care and respect in using them properly should get the job done. At their price point, they are far ahead of most others so they are more within the means of a trades person to acquire and keep for themselves and not be at the mercy of an abused shop tool shared among the many who may not take such great care respect in their use.

This set by Orion Motor Tech is a good combination set for replacing a front bearing and avoiding the need for a wheel alignment after you do it. There are some really good videos online about how to use tools like this which is good because the kits themselves do not have directions in them. A couple of key tips is to make sure the drive bolt is oiled/greased or you will strip/break the bold (I personally use oil) and that everything is completely square/straight or a relatively easy job will become a nightmare. The ball joint tool is very helpful when doing this job to remove the lower ball joint, so you have enough play to separate the hub from the CV shaft. The one part of this job that these don't address is the removal of the hub from the knuckle. There are a couple of different options for this which you can find on Amazon. Search for "hub puller". An old fashioned slide hammer with the proper attachments will work, but there are other ways.Great set to have. If you have a number of cars to maintain and do your own work, this set will pay for itself in to time. The ability to replace bearing while leaving the knuckle on the car and avoiding a wheel alignment is cost savings bonus as well.
