Got the Performance Plus and the Meinl brands. The Perf Plus produces a slightly lower tone, but very authentic sounding sleigh bells. I find the Meinl just a tad brighter (sharper tone). The Perf Plus appears to be solidly constructed and easy to handle. The Meindl is larger, heavier beast by comparison. I am pleased with both and think the blend of the two will be most excellent.

This instrument has a higher pitched "jingle" than the Ludwig. Even though the Ludwig is a "true" sleigh bell sound, this instrument has fit in better on some songs than the Ludwig. If you are a true aficionado of winter sounds, I'd own both.

There are so many mixed reviews on this item, but I decided to give it a try. I am in the camp that feels these bells are not up to performance level. They are quiet and the sound is a bit tinny. Good sleigh bells have a deep rich tone and an cut through other instruments.On the other hand if you don't want loud, rich bells, and need them to be quiet and gentle, these do the trick.I will, however, return these.
