We got more and more nervous waiting for this stuff as it took so long. When it finally arrived (1 of 2 separate orders we placed), we were immediately assuming the worst as it didn't "appear" to be what we ordered. It was supposed to be 3' tall and came in a short bale wrapped in tarp material. Once we opened it we saw that it was 3' wide but was folded in half. Then we made the assumption that the "Self-Adhesive" claim was also bogus because we couldn't see a backing to peel off to save our lives! Once we discovered it was completely clear and figured out to pull it off, it didn't seem overly sticky... fast forward to install day and once we'd cleaned the walls of our Seacans we started the first row. It stuck very well as long as the walls weren't too cold. We have a shop heater so we were good to go. We couldn't be happier with this as our base layer. Once the walls are all firred out we're still installing Roxul insulation and a vapour barrier before our drywall goes up. This stuff is 1/3 the cost of what we found locally at Home Depot and that stuff definitely isn't self adhesive. Two thumbs up!

I used this in the basement around the outside walls. It was ok, did a good job. It was not wide enough though.

Finally got around to putting this stuff up after the night's started to get chilly. It's 'hopefully' going up inside an already insulated shed. I say hopefully because after peeling back the clear film to reveal the 'stickiness' of the underside, I realized that I would need to tack every few inches to keep it from releasing it's meagre grip and surrounding me with a crumpled mess of silver batting that happily sticks...to itself. It's thin, which I expected, but what I did not expect was that the shiny silver layer would become attached to whichever side of tape won the tackiness race after it inevitably curls upon itself desperate to be back in it's shipping form.Unfortunately I am trying to put it on the ceiling. You can imagine how complicated things get when you are working above your head. I am but one person. And this is a 4 person job... minimum.Someone needs to hold the corners to the top of the wall while another slowly peels back the nearly invisible backing (pro tip: one side has a bit of an extra edge). The corner holder can expect to be behind the sheet pressed against the wall until the tack person and lifter get there. Be certain to have a lifter there to hold the sheet behind and up for the person who is tacking or taping it. I think that's four, but I'd imagine havinga couple extra who could tag in after shoulders start burning would be helpful as well. Maybe even a cheerleader friend for moral support. It has taken me 43 minutes to put up 3 feet of this conundrum. It very well may just hang halfway from the rafters for the next month while I wait for Xmas visitors to beg for help. Will it work? Who knows. It has the texture of a 50 years old elephant's trunk, so I'm unsure if the radiant heater will reflect well. And it's as thin as a saltine, so the R value is going to be pretty minimal. Still hopeful. I'll check in after a -30 day. This is just my experience. It might work better if you're using it for walls. Or if you have an army to help install it on the ceiling. It may also stick better to other things, like metal. But nothing porous, like wood.Hope that helps.
