This thing sticks out and wraps around, and from some angles, it gives the impression of a hipster mustachio. One of my neighbors fixed the problem for me. The sticking out mustache side caught their coat pocket as they walked past, and it snapped right off.Installed on my 2006 Silverado without any issues. Took less than 10 minutes. Good luck with it.
