BOSTITCH MCN250S 2-1/2IN METAL CONNECTOR TOOL, SHORT MAG

From the Manufacturer

Today's homes are stronger than ever. Knowledgeable home owners, natural disasters, and stricter building codes have led the industry to adopt better ways of building houses. One important result of this has been the massive rise in the use of metal connectors. These metal connectors, whether it is in the form of a hurricane tie, joist hanger, or stud plate tie are used to strengthen the weaker joint areas of a home. Their popularity has given rise to a new necessity on the jobsite; a nailer dedicated to fastening metal connectors. The Bostitch STRAPSHOT Metal Connector Nailer (MCN-250S) is the perfect tool for fastening metal connectors. Its exposed nail tip places the fastener point directly into connector holes for a faster, more precise application. It has a built in safety that prevents the tool from firing when not placed properly into the connector hole. The Bostitch STRAPSHOT Metal Connector Nailer (MCN-250S) drives 1-1/2-Inch to 2-1/2-Inch 35-Degree Paper Tape Metal Connector Nails. The in line short magazine also helps maneuverability by fitting into corners easily. Its low nail lockout feature prevents jams by preventing cycling with less than 5 nails for added safety. The tool also comes with hardened steel wear guards to protect the tool and adjustable exhaust to conveniently direct air away from the user.

Really the best. I’ve been a carpenter for 10 years now and when I bought this gun I’ve realized how much time I’ve spent using my hammer to nail the joist hanger’s. Now I can do the whole floor in like 30m and before it would take me all day basically. Really the best purchase you can do to save time and money.

Have two of these, one for holding 2-1/2" nails and the other for holding shorter nails. Changing the nail size in a loaded nailer isn't easy, so swapping out the nailer itself is the way to go. And it's handy to have a spare nailer in the event of a breakdown; but never had a problem, so far. I had one jam which could've been avoided if I had loaded another strip of nails into the nailer sooner. The spring-loaded nail clip looses some force towards the end of a strip of nails, so be sure to reload a fresh strip of nails before the nails nearly run out. Great working in tight places, such as on a recessed deck ledger board with closely spaced joists. Use around 100psi air pressure. It's worth the money, a quality item.

Picture makes it look like the gun is green. Parts are actually black. Whatever. I've built all the framing for my 400 sf deck and the gun has been flawless. I'm running on 12 in oc joists so it gets really tight, but this gun is okay for that. A gun that held more nails wouldn't work in these tight spaces.Advertised as being half the weight of competitive guns. Don't know that, but this gun doesn't overwhelm this 59 year old couch potato.

This gun is great to use when it isn't broken. I have one of these as well as a hitachi nr65 and this by far outperforms the hitachi in all areas except durability. This gun still looks new because it spends more time being fixed than it does on the jobsite. What I like-Light and compactIntegrated skyhookLots of driving powerLight action, low recoilGreat at shooting at an angle (safety mechanism is adaptable to real world situations)What I hate:Broken too oftenBottom line, if you rely on your guns to make a living, just buy the hitachi...it's drawbacks are far outweighed by its durability

This gun is a little expensive compared to the MCN150, but it shoots both size nails. If you're doing a lot of joist hangers with double shear requirements, you need 2.5" nails. I've fired over 1000 nails with this gun in the past week and its only jammed twice. I was originally going to buy the one with the long magazine to save 50 bucks, but I'm glad I didn't. I had plenty of instances where I wouldn't be able to fit into a joist bay with the long magazine. Changing nail sizes is a bit of a pain so I found I shot a lot of 2.5" nails instead of switching between the nails.
