The Steel City 40100 is a 13-inch portable planer with a powerful 15 amp motor that drives the patented 2-knife quick change cutterhead to provide plenty of power for full width planning or long run jobs. The cutterhead lock provides easy and quick change in replacing the 2 reversible blades, and the unique 4 column lead screw design keeps head in a rigid fixed position to insure parallel cuts that reduce snipe. The depth of cut indicator allows for precise cuts and fast set up time.

Not impressed when I got down to attaching the dust collector cute and the screws that attach it do not fit the holes. Looks like I will have to fine the thread size and get some at the hardware store

Used it to plane rough spruce lumber and it worked great, plenty of power . It did an amazing job.

It work really well for the first I'd say 300bf of Pine could not correct the constant snipe I'd get even making sure it was on a solid level base.Got through 60bf of Ash until it hit a small raised nought and the blade and blade house exploded..Unsafe and not really sensible for anything other than soft wood.

I've wanted a Bench top Planer for a long time, didn't feel I could justify the big ticket price to trim out rough planks when I could get results with my table saw, a hand planer and some sandpaper... feels pretty good to be in the automated age of woodworking!Two minutes to unpack, read the directions, assemble a couple of pieces, ready to go and working! I was planing rough cut fir, with a big smile on my face, within 20 minutes of receiving the box.Planed some heavy fir boards, worked like a damn! rough cut lumber to 1 1/4" x 8 planks, smooth on both sides in a couple of minutes! I took it slow, results were great!The Planer seems to be pretty HD, maybe not as fancy as the Brands twice as expensive but for my purposes it should work well. I'm usually not an advocate of going the less expensive route with tools, but in this instance, spending half to get a luxury item made sense. If it lasts and does the job, as expected, for a hobbyist it's a good deal! I'm betting it'll pay for itself quite handily in saved time, saved $'s for sandpaper, wear and tear on equipment and it'll open up a lot of doors to use better lumber for projects.Here's hoping it gives me good service!

Just about the least expensive 13-in planer that you can get your hands on. Even so, I have to say it does a fine job.The constitution is solid and this thing is heavy. 75 lbs the easy to read gage in imperial and metric.Granite flat surface.And wide enought for a Telecaster body shape to slide in easily. Great for one piece body builds.A great addition to the shop.
