This product is a set of two (2) three inch in diameter hook & loop (Velcro) backing pads and one (1) 5/8"-11 drill adapter. The backing pads may be used with most small angle grinders or orbital sander/grinders (which have a 5/8"-11 arbor) or they may be used with 5/8"-11 drill adapter and a corded or cordless drill. Polishing pads, wool buffing pads, foam pads, and sandpaper with the corresponding hook & loop backing surface may be attached to the backing pads to accomplish the desired task. In my case, I intend to use the backing pads with very fine silicon carbide abrasive paper rounds to sand by cloudy headlamp assemblies. I will them use the foam pads and wool polishing pads with liquid polishing products to bring the headlight assemblies back to a full shine.This product is well balanced and does not vibrate when used with my cordless drill. It easily accepts the foam pads, wool polishing pads, as well as the silicon carbide abrasive paper rounds. It may be used at various speeds from very slow for sanding to very fast for final polishing. There is no excessive run-out with these backing pads so worrying about the edge position is not an issue.

I didn't take the time to think about the size of the mandrel when I read the description. The ones I normally use have a 1/4" shank. These are closer to 3/8" of an inch. Not really a problem. Neither is the threaded end of the mandrel. I think it's the same size as my 4 1/2" angle grinder. Not that you would screw this onto a metal grinder to use.The hook and loop easily grabs onto the 2" sanding disks I have. There's enough give in the foam so I can sand the inside of a bowl without leaving marks as long as I'm careful. Over ll it works just fine.

I really liked how well this was balanced and easy to use for detail work. I also liked the size because I could also use it for smaller projects and also cover larger flat areas. The drill shank to 5/8"-11 threads allowed me connect it to my drill as well as when not using the adaperter, to my mutipal speed grinder, When attached to my drill, I could do detailed edge work sanding. But when attached to my grinder, I could get really agressive and remove a lot of sanded surface quickly. the hook and loop held up well to my use when on a grinder, and is why I gave it 5 stars. I think it is the flexibility of the backing pad and how the hook and loop is attached. My lot arrived with no defects; and I currently have these at a spot on my bench so I grab and use.
