my husband and I decided to invest in this sander to prep our very old wood deck ready for refinishing. Now that wood costs are so high we cannot afford to replace some of the much needed rotten boards.this machine has done an awesome job At cleaning off the top layer and saving us a ton of money in lumber costs. We started out with a small hand sander it just wasn’t enough. This machine has taken a knuckle busting and unforgiving, back breaking job and sped it up Times 1000.I have used other rotary sanders in the past but this one extends to over 5 feet. this past weekend my son was able to utilize it to repair sheet rock damage due to the roof leak at his house. it allowed Him to very comfortably sand the walls without kneeling or climbing ladders. No need for stilts or scaffolds.again saved us a lot of time and strenuous work. All of the features on this tool work exceptionally well. It has a solid build and durable construction. The machine is designed to last.It gets the job done and gives us finished professional results every time .All around it is an excellent tool!totally worth the price!

I bought this for the specific purpose of sanding down a ceiling in a bathroom where the paint is starting to peel due to humidity. We recently purchased the home and the ceiling paint in one bathroom has gotten progressively worse over the months that to fix it correctly would require removing all the loose (and potentially loose) paint before skim coat, paint, etc.I already have a palm RO sander, but the thought of doing an entire ceiling with a 4" sander "upside down" didn't excite me so I bought this. Truth be told, I also anticipate popcorn removal on some other ceiling sections in the home, and even though I don't anticipate being able to use this to sand it off, popcorn removal does require some remediation of the underlying drywall anyway, so this purchase was really looking to the future.Unpacking - the vacuum itself comes in 3 main parts - the motor/handle assembly which is hinged, the extension wand, and the hose. There are some other bits/pieces - carry bag, dust bag, and a small baggie with what appears to be a few gaskets, small screwdriver, etc. There are also 2 packs of sandpaper, 80 grit. Assembly was easy and the hose snapped right onto the end of the wand.Operation - a bit awkward at first. The unit is designed (ergonomically) to sand walls, not ceilings. By that I mean the position of the handles and trigger for the motor. It's not super heavy, but not light either, and since the unit is new, the brushes near the sanding pad were stiff enough I had to give some light pressure so I could hear the sanding head actually engage the surface. I have been sanding at the top speed, which doesn't seem very fast, but it gets the job done.As far as switches go, the switch for the perimeter lights is actually on the sanding head itself. The switch, switch lock and speed adjustment are all on the grip handle. After I started sanding I quickly discovered that the included hose is basically trash if you intend to provide suction (which you should do..... I can't imagine using this without a vacuum). It is only corrugated but not reinforced, so I found my shop vac collapsing the hose under the negative pressure it provided. I'll probably wind up buying a short reinforced vac hose to replace the OE one. Not a huge deal though, because this piece CAN be replaced (e.g. it's not integral to the unit). All the above said, the sanding surprisingly took down a lot of the loose paint and did a great job. I thought I'd have to scrape the entire ceiling by hand but the sander did good enough a job that a follow up with a hand scraper didn't really loosen much more paint.Hopefully this will be a good investment for the future in other home projects.

I have seen these around for a few years now and always wanted to get one. It wasn’t until my son decided one day that he wanted to do his daughter’s room, and he did it the hard way! I told him there were only a few options to make the repairs so we decided to float to ceiling and then come back and sand it. so I bought this, and I can tell you these things are fantastic! It’s not too heavy and it does a fantastic job of keeping your work area clean and keeping the dust way down. The only time you get dust is when you bring it off the ceiling or the wall and you put it in an angle apparently it must capture some and it leaves a little pile so I had these Little piles of dust every now and then, but that was not that big of a deal to clean up. I would highly recommend if you’re going to ceilings or walls.
