When remodeling or repairing old houses/buildings it is very common to have 'old work' electrical boxes and receptacles/switches that don't flush up to the wall surface.There are a number of ways to fix that, and this is one of the better onesSimply remove the existing switch/receptacle and install one of these box extenders between the 'old work' box and the switch/receptacle. This will lift the switch/receptacle forward and you can then reassemble the box with the devices moved flush to the surface. You might need to use your imagination a bit to figure this out, but you will like the way everything looks when you're finished.It works and I do use these box extenders. I definitely recommend trying them.
