I bought this gas cap as a last resort prior to investing in a smoke machine in order to discover the cause of my small leak evap code error on my 2002 VW Passat wagon. In my attempt to solve the problem, I replace the purge valve and also the gas cap with an oem. The code persisted so I assumed that the leak had to be someplace else. Little did I know that the new OEM gas cap was the problem. Although this gas cap does not have a tether, It appears to have a much better seal design than the previous one that is supposed to be OEM. I'm just happy that the code disappeared.
