About this item

  • Meet the 3rd gen Nest Learning Thermostat. It has new rings and a big, sharp display. And it saves energy. That's the most beautiful part.
  • The Nest Learning Thermostat is the first thermostat to get ENERGY STAR certified. It learns what temperature you like and builds a schedule around yours. Since 2011, the Nest Thermostat has saved billions of kWh of energy in millions of homes worldwide. And independent studies showed that it saved people an average of 10% to 12% on heating bills and 15% on cooling bills. So in under two years, it can pay for itself.
  • Nest shows you how much energy you use every day in Energy History and every month in your Home Report. So you can see when you use more energy, like on weekends or Monday nights, and how to use less. Change the temperature to save energy and you'll be rewarded with a Leaf. The Leaf learns how to help you save, so it appears at different temperatures for different families.
  • Most homes aren't the same temperature in every room. With the Nest Temperature Sensor, you can let your Nest thermostat know which room should be a certain temperature at a certain time of day. Just put it on a wall or shelf in a room that matters most, like the living room or baby's room. And get the right temperature, right where you want it. (Sold separately.)
  • BUNDLE INCLUDES: Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd Generation, White) | Base | Optional Trim Kit | Mounting Screws and Labels | Nest Screwdriver | Limited 2-Year Warranty | Nest Temperature Sensor | Mounting Screw | Installation Card | Manufacturer 1-year limited warranty

This Nest Learning Thermostat memorizes your favorite temperature settings and adjusts throughout the day. You can also control this Wi-Fi thermostat from your smart phone or other remote devices while you're away. Redesigned with a sleeker, thinner look for a larger, sharper display, the Nest thermostat lights up and easily displays the temperature when you enter a room. It also features an auto-schedule function. This ENERGY STAR-rated thermostat saves you on your energy bills: up to 12 percent on heating bills and 15 on cooling, paying for itself in fewer than two years. ENERGY STAR: The Nest Learning Thermostat is the first thermostat to get ENERGY STAR certified Auto-schedule - no more confusing programming, it learns the temperatures you like and programs itself Auto-away - the Nest thermostat automatically turns itself down when you're away to avoid heating or cooling an empty home Remote control - connect the Nest thermostat to Wi-Fi to change the temperature from your phone, tablet, or laptop Energy history - see when heating and cooling were on and what affected your energy use Nest leaf - you'll see the leaf when you choose a temperature that saves energy, it guides you in the right direction Safety alerts - get an alert on your phone or tablet if your home gets dangerously hot or cold Early on - Nest learns how your home warms up and keeps an eye on the weather to get you the temperature you want when you want it Far sight - when the Nest thermostat spots you across the room, it lights up beautifully to show you the temperature you have set or the time Nest learning thermostat works with 95% of 24-Volt heating and cooling systems, including gas, electric, forced air, heat pump, radiant, oil, hot water, solar, and geothermal Better together; the Nest thermostat works with Nest protect, if Nest protect detects dangerous carbon monoxide gas, it can tell the Nest thermostat to turn off the furnace - a common source of carbon monoxide leaks

I bought two Google Nest Learning Thermostats. The learning is more for me than for the thermostats. Now that they are working with my HVAC system, I love them. They replaced my old not-smart electronic thermostats which were acting erratic. But the short instructions paper and the online remarks seem to be suited for older Google Nest thermostats. They talk about replacing the AA batteries. But there are no batteries to replace. Oh, there must be an internal rechargeable battery— there is a USB port. No instruction comment about charging the thermostat up before trying to install it. That helped. My old thermostats were 4-wire. They never knew about heat pumps. I don’t have a heat pump yet. These new thermostats require 5 wires to control the AC compressor. Fortunately my house thermostat wiring had five conductors. I had my HVAC maintenance guy come to the house and connect the fifth wire from each thermostat to the proper post on the HVAC controller board. He also chose better connections for the five wires at each thermostat. Turns out one of the wires was using the heat pump terminal instead of the air conditioner terminal. Now it works. Confused? Well, so was I. The thermostat has ten terminals, but the instructions give no clues as to what each is for. They look great on the wall. I do like them. I just wish there was more information in the description about retiring requirements. The maintenance guy knew what to do. But I only install thermostats every ten years or so. Technology changes during the lifetime of my thermostats.

Love my Nest thermostats. I now control them by speaking to Alexa, and they have helped me reduce my energy usage by over 20%.

It is almost scary how it is learning and automatically adjusting to keep the house warm now that it is getting cooler.

With the ability to switch from hallway to bedroom and keep a comfortable temperature is great. The master room is always warmer than the living room. With this I can have the master room at a lower temperature. During the day I switch to the hallway and it saves energy.

Simple to installed, but this is my 3rd install. Much more accurate than the original thermostat that came with the furnace.
