Call me crazy but I did it. I setup an emergency water system in my home. This system is only for folks that have more than one water source. So many choices of seaflo pumps. I made the better choice with the 5.5 gallon and 60 PSI. I got a water line to the kitchen sink, toilet and cloths washer. No more 5 gallon buckets to carry up stairs from my pond to flush the stinking toilet during a power outage. Despite all the negative reviews I bought this pump because a friend of mine lives off grid and has been using this brand pump for years in his cabin.ProsPump can be run on ether a 12 v DC power supply or a 12 v DC batteryVery good pressure in my sink. I am impressed.Loud in the basement but quiet upstairs. Unlike my old 120 AC pump it was so loud you could hear it running on the first and second floor.Pressure tank helps the pump to shut down quickly when no water is being used.Good suction up to 50 ft.Conspoor suction after 100 ftToilet fills very slowly.More then one user slows the water flow and pressure down.Parts I used to build the system.Seaflo 51-Series pumpSeaflo Accumulator Tank 0.25 oz30 amp 12 v dc regulated power supply (optional)1/2 inch ID (internal dimension) pex1/2 inch ID (internal dimension) reinforced vinyl hose. Like a UV water filter a bigger pressure tank and a large 100 gallon storage tank.Keep in mind with the suction, depending on if you are trying to pull water up, down or on the level. The type of pipe size you use will effect the performance. I found the pump will not pull water 50 ft up hill and another 50 ft on the level to the inside of my house without help of a booster pump. When I have water 100 ft away on the level or going down hill to the pump it can pull in the water in just fine.

I am using this in an off grid well setup. This is pump number 2 for me. The first one use to do both services for me, pull water from the well and feed pressure to the dwelling. Now I use the new one to pull from a new reserve tank so the pump does not have to work so hard. My original one is still pulling water from the well and free flowing into the reserve tank. I use a washing machine atmospheric switch to control the well side older pump. With the new pump, I imediately bypassed the pressure switch on the head of the new pump. I then use a standard well switch at the pressure tank to switch the new pump.1 hour after I got this I was swapped and was running again, one week later not a problem at all. This all runs on a deep cycle AGM 12v battery with solar charging. We can run for up 2 weeks without a charge, we tried it accidently(forgot to hook up charge circuit again). Old pump was new october 2015 and still operates great for two adults toilets showers laundry ice maker dishes we don't notice a difference from a "normal city water setup"Highly recomend. Also should mention the prior pumps were Used RV Sureflow pumps two of them gave out within a couple of months. Glad I found these.
