First gig bag for my first Mandolin. Has a decent amount of padding.Loses half a star for lack of backpack straps.Loses another half for having 2 small utility pouches instead of 1 large one which just seems like it would be more useful (since it would be nice to be able to fit an extra set of strings in there).Otherwise it looks nice, and is spot on for the price point.

We needed to ship a very old Gibson mandolin to Montana to be restored. The luthier recommended this "gig bag" to protect the instrument within a shipping box and we followed his advice. It worked perfectly. It is well made, well cushioned and a good value. When we received our restored mandolin, we will use this case for traveling. This is an excellent solution as it is sized to fit virtually all standard mandolins.

A little snug but it's well padded and seems well made other than the useless pocket that was clearly designed by a fool - it's divided into uselessly small segments. The threading on one side of the pocket wasn't secured upon receipt. No biggie as I was just looking something to hold the mando, nothing more.

Despite the fact that the description of this bag could be better, this is a great deal if you have an A style mandolin. The padding is thick. The nylon exterior is tough and attractive. The handle and stitching are reinforced. The interior is a softer red material. The zipper is heavy duty. The front pocket is actually two compartments, which fit a tuner and a bunch of picks very easily, plus three pen sized slots. The strap fits across your chest allowing you to carry the bag on your back easily. Two backpack straps would be excessive for the weight and size of a mandolin. I'm glad they are not there. I feel this bag's value is at least twice its cost.

I don't travel alot ,so this was just right for me.A good safe way to store my mandolin.An Ibanez 510 A style fits perfect.On the out side top are three pockets.Two open under a flap, held down with velcro.One of the pockets has a zippered side that opens the third pocket.One pocket is stitched to form three slots for pens or something.Kind of a waste,so I removed the stitching for the pen slots and it opened up to form a pocket, equal to the others.The three pockets are about 3 to 3 1/2 " wide and about 6" long.They don't open up very wide,so you won't be putting a lot of stuff in there.But, they are useful.The bag is well made with quality material.The inside is well padded and has a nice soft liner that won't harm the finish. In the neck area,there is a good amount of extra room.I have a small soft leather bag that holds a mandolin strap and polishing cloth and it fits in with no problem. I am very happy with this bag and recommend it to others.
