The shavings seen on the floor are the results of one planing pass at .5mm on the edge of a one foot long piece of one by.The planer worked very well on my test piece of pine wood. The blades are very sharp. The piece of planed wood was nice and smooth after running the planer over it.The planer easily accepted an original Dewalt battery. I definitely like how it performs. Two minimal issues: the blade cannot be sharpened, it must be replaced when it dulls; the instructions state that a blade removal wrench is included, but there was no wrench.

This is a great little planer.Discharge chutes on either side, switchable.nice and simple adjustable depth.Works well for my needs!
