Honey for the money. I had not used a power planer tool before and this one took a little practice but worked well. Unlike some other reviewers, mine was obviously new and unused and the cutters well aligned. I used it right out of the box. I'm using it to smooth some cut logs to get them ready for turning and other woodworking projects. Won't be doing a great dealof this so I didn't want to spend a ton of money. Got exactly what I wanted for a fair price.

I used this to flatten out some rough hewn barn wood used for stair treads that were already installed. The planer works well to reduce some of the warping in the old reclaimed wood. I like that you can attach a vacuum to the planer to remove the wood dust, reducing the time needed to clean up afterward.

While I have a lot of hand planers, I thought it was time to get an electric planer as well. This one had very good reviews and it was on sale, so I went ahead and ordered it. It appears to be well made. It comes with a rebate guide and depth stop, wrenches for adjusting the cutting blades, two extra blades (nice), an extra drive belt (even nicer), and even extra motor brushes (wow)! The front and rear shoes were flat and parallel right out of the box. The blades were fairly well adjusted, but I spent a few minutes getting them true and square to the shoes. Once I got it set up, I took a few test cuts on some scrap and was very pleased with the results. To be fair, it doesn't leave the very smooth finish that I can accomplish with my hand planes, but I didn't expect that from it. This is a very handy tool for removing stock and getting a relatively nice flat edge, chamfering, or perhaps rabbiting, although I prefer using dado blades or my router for rabbiting. The instruction manual is very basic and if you don't have experience with an electric hand planer, there are videos on YouTube that are more instructional.
