This are 'basic protection' padlocks. They are not intended to absolutely lock someone/something out. These are basic locks to warn people there's potential danger and they should not go beyond the gate protected by the lock.I use them outdoors to lock some gates. The fact that they are mostly plastic makes me think they will do well outdoors (so far so good). The locks tell people to stay out but if required they can be fairly easily forced open.One very nice feature is the numbering and the similarity of the keys. Since it is a set of 10, you will have 20 keys that if mixed up, would be cumbersome to match them up again. The numbering makes it very easy to find the right key for each lock.If sturdiness and high level of security are not your main drive to buy this locks, they will do a great job.

There is a lot that I like about these locks. They seem like they’d be easy to cut if you really needed to (I know what the rules say). They aren’t a “security” lock by any means. I like that the key and lock are both stamped with the same number, both coming with two keys (depending on your policies - 1 locked in an office, one for the worker/lock - or you toss one key when they arrive). II tried scratching out the number on the lock and it didn’t scratch easily. I couldn’t rub the key number off, but a hard scratch with a screwdriver did make it harder to read. No doubt a grinder or enough grease would also make it challenging.The fact that they are light duty (kinda “loose”) and small shanked (¼”) helps them fit into some more challenging lock out spots, like electrical panels.I like that the key stays in when it’s unlocked - helping to keep the keys together if you hang them on a board or keep them in a drawer.

While they don’t have to be used specifically for lockout, they are all labeled this way with the ability to write on one side who it belongs to.- Comes as a 10-pack- All locks in the package use a different key- 2 keys per lock provided; 10 locks, 20 keys- Individually packaged- Lightweight- When lock is open, you can’t remove the key- Each lock is labeled “lockout”, “danger”, with the ability to write who it belongs to- Longer shackle length- Smooth operation of key and shackle- Comes with lock-out tags as wellNotes:- For some people, it would be good if there was a MASTER key included in this 10-set, however there isn't.Overall, this padlock set is good value whether you are using as lockout locks or just for other general purpose uses around the home or cottage.
