Makita 18v LXT brushless cordless 9” drywall sander (dsl800z, tool only) delivers increased efficiency and mobility for drywall finishers. The compact and lightweight design make the dsl800z easier to use for extended periods of time. The dsl800z delivers up to 35 minutes of run time on a single charge of an 18v 5.0ah Battery (battery sold separately). Users can match the speed to the application with a variable speed control dial (1,000 - 1,800 rpm), and constant speed control automatically provides additional power to the motor to maintain speed under load for consistent performance. The Large highly flexible head is engineered for efficient for increased maneuverability across various wall orientations. The direct-drive BL brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life. The adjustable extension pipe collapses for sanding in confined spaces, such as closets, and extends up to 16-1/2” for reaching high walls and ceilings. The dust brush is removable for seamless flush-to-corner edge sanding. For improved efficiency, it’s equipped with auto-start wireless system technology (AWS). AWS utilizes Bluetooth technology for wireless communication between the tool and dust extractor (sold separately). When the trigger of the AWS-equipped dsl800z is engaged, the AWS-equipped dust extractor powers-up. When the trigger is released, the dust extractor powers-down. AWS is intelligent communication that eliminates cords and excessive noise since the dust extractor runs only when the tool is running.

Not that I'm really surprised, Makita makes great, well thought out tools. This one is no exception. I tried an electric pole sander years ago (not Makita) and it was awful (I mean really awful), so I was a bit hesitant to try again, but I have a whole house (4000 SQ ft) to do, so decided to try again.First off, the machine has variable speed control. I know, this seems like a "duh" thing, but as a beginner with the tool, slowing everything down is really important until you get the hang of the power. The next thing was to find some 220 grit sanding disks (the tool comes with a 120 grit). I had some non-holed disks for a radius 360 sander, and simply used the Makita disk as a template and drilled 9 holes in the 220s. Slowing the machine down and using 220 grit gave me a fantastically smooth finish and no gouging. Minimal touch up and today I'm ready to prime and paint.I do have the sander hooked up to my shop vac (just a regular one) with a bunch of adapters and although not perfect, the dust collection was pretty good.I give high marks to this tool! My advice to new user it simple to get some very fine disks and slow the head speed down, be patient and keep moving. The results are quick and excellent.

J'aurais aimé savoir avant que j'avais besoin d'un adapteur spécifique pour brancher mon aspirateur.

You cannot beat Makita tools with a stick! In Canada, their factory service is second to none. Best dollar per tool use on the market.

Unboxed and immediately realized that it would take a gorilla or NFL lineman to use! The 9” disk is a great idea but hard on the shoulders.

The sander seems to have lots of power, batteries seem to run a long time. But, the dust collection seems to suck badly. I've used it with both the nine hole discs with and without the extra hole in the middle. Makes no difference. The issue seems to be with the design of the removable piece that allows you to get into corners. The sad part is that may $200 WEN is far superior at dust collection.

Makes sanding a nearly instant process, Dusty as all heck though was on sale at kms, but definitely worth it if I did sanding for a living.
