These have got to be the perfect strings for a folk, blues, bluegrass mandolin.Have now had them on for about two months and still sound excellent.

I just put these on my instrument and I can already hear and feel a difference. They sound so warm and pure, and just the right amount of earthy twang and jangle. They also feel much smoother under my fingertips. The increased size of the A and E courses is excellent too. My melodies sound stronger and of purer tone (amazing sustain), but my fingers don't notice the increased size at all, so I'm not straining to fret either single notes, or even barring some chord forms. I originally bought them because when I'm in heavy playing mode (2-4 hours of play 6-7 days a week) , I can burn through a pair of uncoated D'addario's (EJ74) in 2 weeks. If these can last even slightly longer, I'll be ecstatic.*UPDATE* 8/18/16As of 1 month, and many hours of playing, I'm still in love with these strings. They still hold tension, even under hard playing and slight bending, they feel silky smooth still, and they still have the sound they should have. The coating makes a WORLD of difference. I would have literally never believed it could make such a difference to have a coated set of strings, but it really does. It may be more money, but it is totally worth it. (As a side note, the coating does change the impact noise of the pick being used. I haven't had any problems or concerns, but have since found information that those that liked celluloid picks in particular could discern a click after they changed strings)

I don't like to change my Mandolin strings. Guitar yes easy to do doesn't take long can clean the finger board while I'm at it. Mandolin is different story. Eight small strings loop ends that seem to come off, a movable bridge that always just a little off after I am done. Then there is the tuning. Overall never a task that I look forward to. Enter the EXP74 coated strings. Great tone that lasts a long, long time. Holds tuning very well. In fact rarely goes out of tune. I have to remember that they have been on my Mando for 3 months and I should change them. Before played strings till they were dead which didn't take long maybe a month. After with EXP's change strings every quarter. Sometime I don't even think they need it. I play practice daily and jam and gig on the weekends. Really great strings. I have to thank youtube and Chris Thile for these as he did a video explaining how he changed strings every night after a show and since getting these he just keeps playing night after night.
