We needed something to pump out water from a 250 gallon water tank to use for watering plants and such. We get so much water that we use rain collection to collect water and a times we use our house water from the well to pump and fill a little. This saves us from using our well system since we are in a rural area. We do not hear this pump and it pumps pretty fast.
